B in wonderland

" Alice laughed: 'There's no use trying,' she said.
'One can't believe impossible things.'

'I daresay you haven't had much practice,' said the Queen.

'When I was younger, I always did it for half
an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed
as many as six impossible things before breakfast.'"

Lewis Carroll
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

I picked that quote up from ullabenulla just now. It's serendipitous, which I love, because I've been trying to imagine the impossible all morning, which I don't love. I'm a big believer in imagining your dreams into reality. (Devoted readers know my passion for the mondo beyondo list) I think my own hubby is even finaly beginning to get it. He mad a gratitude list (at my request) of 20 things, none of which were true (yet)

"#3 I'm thankful for my career inthe film industry"

And then only 2 days later he was setting up lights and doing production assistant work for a one day indie film shoot!

Why is it so hard some days to believe?

Any how, I was given a little bit more than an hour last night to go clean and create in my studio. I'm trying to downsize in there to make room for infant photo sessions...how did I end up with so much stuff!? A list of a million things to make, I'll have something to share soon!

Having an Artsy Neighbor

Raesha and I

Well, technically Raesha isn't a neighbor, but she is one of my great friends!

Last Christmas she made me this fabulous pendant using a memory frame she bought at one of our local stamp/art stores. This is a great alternative for those of us that don't solder. You simply slide the slides and art into the frame and close it! I love making gifts for my friends and family and love it even more when I get something made for me. Artist friends rule!

And I finaly got to use some of my lovely beads that I had been saving for a special fiber necklace! (I've had the bee bead for almost 15 years!)

Raesha has joined at least one of the groups at this little shop and really widened her circle of artsy "neighbors." A fabulous idea if you're looking for some kindred spirits!

Notecard Swap

My creation

I signed up for Regina's notecard swap knowing full well that I wasn't going to craft anything but instead use some photos I did last summer. These pics have gone over really well on flickr. I think in combination with nostalgia, the colors really help push it over the top.

It's not something too hard to do, if you want to take some commercial looking pics of some of your collectibles. Just set up a piece of scrapbook paper on a table and prop another one up against a stack of books. Open a window with some good light and set up your fun! I submit my digital files to Walmart and get 12 ¢ prints...really cheap for the beginnings of a notecard that looks like a boutique sold it, no?

(cross-posting on my photo blog.)

What is a good neighbor?

For my new blog

If you're coming over from my old blog you know a little bit about me. How, I have too many hobbies, would rather create than clean, and I love to share. You also know that I LOVE to fill my life with art, books, and friends that enrich my life.

When I stopped blogging over there, it was because I had recently found out I was pregnant and felt overwhelmed by our life changes and my upcoming busy season as a photographer (and maybe student) But as the first trimester ended and I began to catch up on everything I neglected, I felt I had neglected one of my favorite things...creating arts and crafts and sharing them with my readers and friends!

The need to craft, bake, and share was becoming as bad as my pregnancy cravings for fruit smoothies! And blogging fills a need for community I have. I LOVE getting comments and emails from my online friends and participating in great swaps! It's as if we are all virtual neighbors, swapping recipes and making baby gifts! I miss the community.

So I am back. Thanks for coming over!
